COLONEL TRACK TEAMS HOST NCAA COLLEGIATE SERIES MEET FRIDAY

RICHMOND, Ky. - Coach Rick Erdmann's Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's track teams will host an NCAA Collegiate Series Meet Friday night at EKU's Tom Samuels Track.

Entered in the scored competition will be teams from the University of Cincinnati, the University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky and EKU. Field events begin at 4:30 p.m. and the running events start at 6:00 p.m.

"This is the first time we've tried this and it could be very interesting for track fans to see schools compete in a scored situation," said Erdmann.

Eastern's men's and women's team competed last week at the University of Tennessee Sea-Ray Relays in Knoxville.

On the women's side, season's bests were turned in by EKU's Myiesha Spates in the 100 meters, 12.12; Kenyetta Grigsby and Lystra Bartholomew in the 100 - meter hurdles, 14.04 and 14.19, respectively; Pauline Mitchell, 800 meter run, 2:17.41; Jenni Brown in the 3,000 meter run, 10:18.38; and Kathy Dodsworth, discus, 160-4.

Three of EKU's women's relay teams also turned in season - best times. These included the 4X100 Relay (46.62), the 4X200 Relay (1:38.50) and the Distance Medley Relay (12:09.45).

In men's action, Jaidante Burton bettered his time in the 400 - meter dash with a 47.56 and David Kabata clocked in at 15:06.36, a season's best for him in the 5,000 - meter run. The men's 4X1500 Relay ran its best time of 2000 - 16:04.78.
