RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University cross country runner David Machungo, a senior from Karen, Kenya, has been selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Runner of the Week.

Machungo secured his first individual title of the season last Saturday at Indiana University in the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet. He clocked the 8,000-meter course in 25:02, winning the individual championship over some 109 runners representing 17 schools.

Eastern Kentucky took this division of the NCAA Pre-Meet with a team score of 88. Other teams in the top five included Eastern Illinois, 93; Air Force, 95; Miami of Ohio, 175; and Southern Illinois, 181.

EKU's next competition comes Oct. 30 at Clarksville, TN, at the Ohio Valley Conference championship meet.
