COLONEL CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS TO COMPETE AT WESTERN KENTUCKY
RICHMOND, Ky. - Coach Rick Erdmann's Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's cross country teams travel to Bowling Green Saturday to compete at the Western Kentucky University Invitational.
Last weekend, the EKU women's team put in its second consecutive impressive performance by tieing for second place at the Miami University Invitational. Cincinnati won the meet with a score of 69 points, while Eastern and Cincinnati came up with 71 points in the 12-team meet.
Jenni Brown, a senior from Salem, OH, led EKU runners with her third place finish in the 5,000-meter run in a personal best time of 18:12. Two other Colonels finished in the top 10 as senior Theresa Olsen of Billings, MT was sixth at 18:17 and sophomore Heather Davel of Neillsville, WI, was eighth at 18:26.
"Our top three women ran well, but until we can get five runners who want to win, we won't be successful at that level of competition," said Erdmann.
Other Eastern runners and their times were: Hannah Benjamin, 19:09; Jennifer Wheeler, 19:21; Angie Lee, 19:27; and Celestina Ogbolugo, 19:38.
