Leon Pullen

Assistant Track and Cross Country Coach

Coach Leon Pullen is entering his first year with the Colonel track and field/cross country team but is not a stranger to the EKU family.  The Dayton, Ohio native competed for EKU from 1992-1996.  As a sprinter, he is currently in the top five in three different sprinting categories at EKU.  After he completed his eligibility, he continued to contribute to the team by being a student coach until he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1997.  He earned in Master of Education in Sports Administration from Xavier University (OH) in 2006.

Before coming to Eastern Kentucky University, Coach Pullen interned at the University of Kentucky athletic department in the Center for Academic and Tutoring Services (C.A.T.S.).  While at UK, he worked with women’s basketball, volleyball, men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.  Coach Pullen worked professionally for a number of years but has always had a passion to coach.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime to give back the university that helped mold me into the person I am.  Coach Erdmann and Coach Moore are men I respect so much and I am glad to have the opportunity to learn from them.  I hope I can be an effective teacher and leader such as them and help student-athletes reach their potential academically and athletically”.

Leon has one son, Jayden.
