TRACK TEAMS HEAD TO NORTH CAROLINA STATE RELAYS
RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's track teams step back into action this weekend with an appearance in the North Carolina State University Relays in Raleigh, NC.
"The level of competition at this meet will be very high and we're just going to go down there and try to perform as well as we can," said EKU head track coach Rick Erdmann.
Both Eastern teams are coming off impressive performances at the Marshall University Relays, Mar. 13, as both squads brought home numerous first places, seconds and thirds.
Freshman Kathy Dodsworth highlighted the women's team's efforts by taking first place for EKU with a school record throw of 150-9 in the discus.
Other first-place finishers on the women's team included Heather Davel in the 5,000-meter run (18:05.0); Kenyetta Grigsby in the 100-meter hurdles (14.60); Davina McCluney in the 100 meters (12.82) and the 200 meters (26.32); and Jamie King in the 800 meters (2:15.74) and the 3,000 meters (9:50.1).
On the men's side, first places for EKU went to Ryan Parrish in the 1,500 meters (4:05.23), Shawn Afflick in the 400 meters (48.74) and Daniel Blochwitz in the 400-meter hurdles (56.63) and the 800-meter run (1:58.91).
