COLONEL TRACK TEAMS COMPETE THIS WEEKEND IN SEA-RAY RELAYS

RICHMOND, Ky. - Coach Rick Erdmann's Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's track teams compete this weekend in the University of Tennessee Sea-Ray Relays in Knoxville, TN.

Senior Jamie King highlighted EKU's performances last weekend by placing second in the 1,500-meter run at the Duke Invitational in Durham, NC. The native of Botkins, OH, not only provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Meet in June with this performance, but she beat former 1,500-meter national champion Carmen Douma in the process.

"This was a great effort by Jamie in a pretty high-class field," said Erdmann.

Other outstanding accomplishments last weekend were turned in by freshman Kathy Dodsworth of Bradbury, New South Wales, Australia, and junior Kenyetta Grigsby of Detroit, MI.

Dodsworth set a new school record in the discus at Duke with a throw of 158 feet, while Grigsby ran a season's best and Ohio Valley Conference season's best 14.30 in the 100 meter hurdles in a double dual meet with the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville in Lexington.
